MEXICO CITY.- Two nurses were killed and their bodies abandoned on a property in the central mountainous area of Veracruz.
Los The remains of the victims were next to an ambulance from the Veracruz Health Sector, where one of them worked as a paramedic.
The events occurred on Monday morning in the community of San Pablo Ojo de Agua in the municipality of Omealca, where elements of various corporations arrived.
According to police reports, the two presented obvious traces of bullet impacts and apparently the coup de grace.
The State Attorney General’s Office started an investigation of the case to determine the possible motive and why the victims used an official ambulance for personal tasks.
Violence in Veracruz
During the first half of the year, the civil organization Causa en Común documented that acts of extreme violence included dismemberment, torture and murder of women and political figures.
The organization reported that from January to June 2024, at least 40 victims of extreme violence were recorded.
It was 13 cases of dismemberment; four murders of women with violence. Three cases of torture and three murders of political actors; in addition two burnings. As well as a case of clandestine grave, massacremurder of a human rights defender, violence against a migrant and murder of a relevant official.
