Two more measles patients were found in the Haifa area – Hai Pah

In the last month, a number of measles patients were found in the Haifa area. Today, Wednesday 1/31/24, the Ministry of Health reported for the third time measles patients living in the Haifa area.

Two unvaccinated brothers from the Kiryat area who got measles

The Ministry of Health updates on two unvaccinated brothers from the Kiryat region who contracted measles. Since September 2023, two patients have been reported from the Haifa District and six from the Northern District, 10 patients from Tel Aviv, one case from the Netanya area, and another case from the Jerusalem area. Apparently the two brothers were infected during a stay abroad.

An epidemiological investigation revealed that one of the brothers traveled by public transportation on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 3:30 p.m., got on line number 4 of the matron from Haifa’s Hoof HaCarmel central station and got off at the Zabar intersection in Kiryat Bialik. Passengers who were on the matron are asked to make sure that they are vaccinated in accordance with the recommendations of the Ministry of Health:

  • Complementary to two vaccinations from the age of one, with an interval of one month between them.
  • A passenger born before 1957 was exposed to the virus as a child and does not need to be vaccinated.
  • Children up to the age of 6 must complete their vaccinations with the drops of milk, children over the age of 7 must complete their vaccinations through the health services for students and adults at the health insurance funds.
  • The Ministry of Health recommends that pregnant women who are not vaccinated with two doses and people suffering from immunosuppression and who were on maternity leave at this time – contact their family doctor or emergency medical centers to receive a preventive vaccination.

Measles disease

Measles is a highly contagious viral disease that manifests itself in fever, general malaise, runny nose and rash and may have severe and even life-threatening complications.
