The Supreme Court annulled the decision of the Election Tribunal and allowed Shaukat Basra and Sanam Javed to contest the election.
An appeal was filed in the Supreme Court once morest the rejection of nomination papers by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s nominee Sanam Javed, which was heard by a three-member bench headed by Justice Muneeb Akhtar today. Similarly, Shaukat Basra also filed an appeal. In the appeals, the petitioners sought to set aside the decision of the Election Tribunals.
Before the court, Sanam Javed’s lawyer Shahzeb Rasool said that Sanam Javed gave an affidavit dated 22 December in the presence of the Oath Commissioner on 21 December. The Oath Commissioner confirmed the signature of Sanam Javed. The returning officer said that 22 December. If no one goes to meet Sanam Javed in jail in 2023, the nomination papers are rejected.

Lawyer Shahzeb Rasool said that the returning officer wrote a letter to the jail authorities on December 30 and rejected the papers on December 22 as no visitors were received. Sanam Javed has been in jail since May 10 and her husband is also under arrest.

It should be noted that Sanam Javed’s nomination papers were rejected from National Assembly Constituency NA 119, NA 120 and Provincial Assembly Constituency PP 150. On the other hand, Shaukat Basra also filed an appeal from National Assembly Constituency NA 163.
