Two men taken into custody after video showing motorist grabbing pedestrians while driving

They are suspected of having participated in a video posted on social media under the title “Giggles of the evening”, on which we see a motorist grabbing two pedestrians by the arm and driving until they fall, under the laughter of the passengers of the car. Two men were taken into custody in Noisy-le-Sec (Seine-Saint-Denis), the Bobigny prosecutor announced on Tuesday January 11.

The first, the driver, was arrested Monday at the end of the day, following showing up for an appointment set in a parking lot by investigators. The second suspect also went to the police station on his own on Tuesday morning, the prosecution added in its statement.

The amateur video behind a police investigation for “Violence with weapons in meetings” has been the subject of multiple reports from Internet users on Pharos, a platform that reports illegal online content and behavior.

Cigarette request

Shot during the night from Saturday to Sunday in Noisy-le-Sec, the video joins two extracts, each of which lasts a few seconds.

We first see the first victim, a 64-year-old man, filmed by one of the passengers. “The authors asked him for a cigarette. When he handed it to the driver, the latter grabbed him by the arm, held him back by force and started accelerating ”, described Eric Mathais, the prosecutor of Seine-Saint-Denis. We see the man running, until he falls to the ground. He suffers from a fractured shoulder and foot and has filed a complaint once morest the perpetrators.

Then it’s another man’s turn to suffer the same fate. “Wallah you’re going to run!” “, launches the motorist. ” Stop bullshiting ! “, “Stop, I’m going to fall!” “, begged the pedestrian, held back by the hand. The scenes provoke the hilarity of the people in the car.

This second victim has not been identified to date, said the Bobigny prosecutor’s office. A young woman, who does not appear in the images, but who claims to have suffered similar acts, has also lodged a complaint.

“Investigations are continuing to identify all the passengers in the vehicle, use the cell phone with which the video was made and find other possible victims”, concluded Mr. Mathais in his press release.
