Two men died when the microplane crashed on the E6 in Oppdal

One person died at the scene. The second person died in an ambulance on the way from the scene of the accident, the police in Trøndelag state in a press release.

The police are working on identifying and notifying next of kin.

At 11.23 on Monday morning, the police received a report that a microplane had crash-landed on the E6 in Oppdal.

– The plane was on fire, and first aid was carried out on the spot. The plane had crashed close to a building, and there was a risk of it spreading to the building, says police task leader Ole Stig Bjørnhovde.

The pilot was rescued by witnesses to the accident. A barn wall also caught fire.

– After fire crews had extinguished the fire, person number two was found in the wreckage of the plane, says Bjørhovde.

The crisis team in Oppdal has been notified and is taking care of the next of kin. Both lived in Oppdal, says the task leader.

Oppdal Airport is a private airport located at Fagerhaug in Oppdal municipality.
