A man and a woman are suspected of forging silver papers in hotels and residential units. The police have received intelligence in recent months that some people are selling and exercising counterfeit banknotes in the New Territories and Kowloon. After the New Territories North Regional Public Events Investigation Team took over the investigation, the past two days (6th and 7th) were in a unit in Homantin District and Mong Kok respectively. A hotel room in District 1 smashed into a suspected counterfeit banknote manufacturing workshop and seized 52 suspected counterfeit banknotes with a total face value of $6,750, as well as a batch of semi-finished counterfeit banknotes, electronic equipment, printers, cutting tools, etc.

During the operation, the police arrested a 46-year-old man surnamed Xu local on suspicion of using counterfeit banknotes, possessing counterfeit banknotes and conspiracy to manufacture counterfeit banknotes; A 44-year-old local woman surnamed Liang. The investigation revealed that the arrested person made counterfeit banknotes at the above address and is being detained for investigation.
