Two luminous points close together in the sky in recent days: we lift the veil on this mystery

Two fixed points, fairly close together and apparently brighter than the stars and visible as soon as night falls. Just an exceptional rapprochement between Venus and Jupiter.

Two luminous points in the sky that we see distinctly. The phenomenon, spotted in recent days by a large number of Internet users, has not failed to challenge them. UFOs? Comets? Pieces of satellites?

Nothing of that ! It was actually two planets of our solar system in a rare phase of alignment: Venus and Jupiter have been visible for several weeks when the sun sets, but in recent days it seemed that they were particularly close .

Look west when the sun goes down

They often appear before the other stars because they shine more, hence the feeling of confusion that this may have caused.

You have to look to the horizon, towards the west, when the sun sets, to see them as early as 6:30 p.m. if the sky is clear. But Venus has started moving away from Jupiter, so don’t delay. To recognize them, know that Venus has a slightly greater luster than Jupiter.
