Two leaders of the Aragua Train will be extradited from Colombia

Colombian authorities have arrested Juan Antonio Gil Díaz, alias ‘Toño’, and Carlos Ramón Escobar García, two members of the Tren de Aragua gang who were requested for extradition by Venezuela with an Interpol red notice, Colombian police reported.

These people, the institution said in a statement, were arrested the first week of May and this Sunday, following the Venezuelan embassy in Bogotá requested their extradition, they were notified that this will happen.

The members of the Tren de Aragua gang are accused of terrorism, extortion, illicit trafficking of narcotic and psychotropic substances, illicit trafficking of weapons and ammunition, possession of explosive devices, resistance to authority and criminal association.

They are required by the First Court of First Instance of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Caracas.

For this reason, both will be taken to prison while awaiting extradition procedures to Venezuela.

The criminal gang Tren de Aragua is pointed out by the Bogotá authorities as one of those responsible for the increase in violence in the city, mainly through robberies, extortion of merchants and homicides.

The gang was born in Venezuelan prisons and has spread to several Latin American countries, such as Colombia, Peru, Bolivia and Chile, where authorities accuse it of committing numerous crimes, including drug trafficking, extortion, kidnapping and homicide.
