On the morning of Monday, March 7, the official Syrian News Agency reported that an “Israeli air strike” took place on the outskirts of Damascus, and the Revolutionary Guards confirmed, on Tuesday evening, the killing of two members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards, namely: Ihsan Karbalaei Pour and Morteza Saeed Nejad, in the attack. .

On Wednesday, March 9, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said that the Israeli action will not go unpunished, and that one of the “resistance’s goals in the region” is to hold Israel responsible for such attacks.

The Revolutionary Guards’ public relations also threatened in a statement that Israel “will pay the price for this crime.”

And the Kan news network reported, Tuesday evening, that the Israeli army is preparing for a possible retaliatory Iranian attack in northern Israel.

The air raids targeted the suburbs of Damascus on Monday morning, and according to news websites close to opponents of the Bashar al-Assad regime, during the attack, an Iranian ammunition depot in the “Al-Qutayfa” area near Damascus, as well as sites near Damascus Airport, were targeted.

Meanwhile, Ali Motahari, the former deputy speaker of the Iranian parliament, said that Israel is coordinating with Russia in attacking Iranian sites.

He pointed out in an interview with the “Saed News” website, that Russia left Israel free to attack the pro-Iranian forces in Syria and is coordinating with Israel, adding: “My feeling is that Russia has infiltrated our government to some extent, and unfortunately we have Russian loyalists in the regime.” the ruler”.

Earlier, the former Iranian Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif, said in an audio recording that the then US Secretary of State, John Kerry, had informed him of more than 200 Israeli attacks on Iranian targets, but the Quds Force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards did not inform him of that.
