Two HSV soccer professionals were apparently involved in an illegal car race in Hamburg on Monday evening. After an accident at the fish market, they are said to have fled the scene of the accident.
Eyewitnesses reported roaring engines around 9.30 p.m. at the edge of the harbour. Apparently HSV left winger Jean-Luc Dompé was involved in a BMW M3 with more than 500 hp. HSV defender William Mikelbrencis is said to have been in the other car, a yellow AMG Mercedes, but only in the passenger seat, a friend was probably behind the wheel.
Crashed into the bus stop at the fish market
At the fish market, the BMW skidded and crashed into a bus stop. The alleged accident driver Dompé is said to have left the car and fled with his HSV buddy in the Mercedes, witnesses reported.
Dompe slightly injured
The police found both a little later in Dompé’s apartment in the city center. The Frenchman suffered a minor hand injury but said he did not drive himself. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the wheel. Both cars were seized to secure evidence.
HSV wants internal work-up
Hamburger SV announced on Tuesday in a brief statement on the Internet indicate that you are in an internal process with the players. The club did not name names. It is unclear whether the incident will ultimately lead to a suspension. Striker Dompè was one of the best HSV professionals recently. Defender Mickelbrencis is mainly a substitute for Hamburg.
