Two HSV soccer professionals were apparently involved in an illegal car race in Hamburg on Monday evening. After an accident at the fish market, they are said to have fled the scene of the accident.

Eyewitnesses reported roaring engines around 9.30 p.m. at the edge of the harbour. Apparently HSV left winger Jean-Luc Dompé was involved in a BMW M3 with more than 500 hp. HSV defender William Mikelbrencis is said to have been in the other car, a yellow AMG Mercedes, but only in the passenger seat, a friend was probably behind the wheel.

Crashed into the bus stop at the fish market

The police found both a little later in Dompé’s apartment in the city center. The Frenchman suffered a minor hand injury but said he did not drive himself. Police said there was no evidence of alcohol or drugs at the wheel. Both cars were seized to secure evidence.
