Two former FC Nantes players stand out with Guingamp against Caen (3-1)

During the convincing victory of the‘En Avant Guingamp against Caen (3-1), two of the three scorers, Hugo Picard et Taylor Luvamboparticularly distinguished themselves, both trained at FC Nantes. This meeting, which allowed Guingamp to return to the Ligue 2 podium, was marked by a clear domination of the Costarmoricans, particularly in the first half.

From the 6th minute, Guingamp took the advantage thanks to a header Jacques Siwebefore his teammates chained the chances. Brighton Labeau et Rayan Gharieb created several opportunities, but failed to widen the gap. While Guingamp largely dominated, the two teams returned to the locker room with only a goal difference.

At the restart, Caen showed a completely different face, quickly equalizing thanks to Alexandre Mendy (51st). However, it is an individual feat of Hugo Picard, player trained in Nantes, who gave the advantage back to the Guingampais. On a breakthrough on the left, Picard scored a magnificent goal with a curling shot (67th), turning the match on its head.

Taylor Luvamboanother former player from the Nantes training center, then put an end to Caen’s last hopes by scoring the third goal in the 78th minute after a mix-up in the opposing area.

This victory allows Guingamp to climb to third place in the Ligue 2 standings, just two points behind leader Paris FC. As for Picard and Luvambo, these former Nantes players played their role perfectly, demonstrating that they are now key elements of the Guingamp squad, despite the regrets that this could cause on the Nantes side.
