For 12 years now, the Peugeot 408 index has belonged to sedans. Automobile first generation we are well acquainted with: until recently, these cars were produced in Kaluga, and before such four-doors were also made in China, Argentina and Malaysia. Peugeot 408 sedan second generation appeared in 2014, and outside the PRC it was released only in Malaysia. And already in early June, the Chinese joint venture Dongfeng Peugeot will present the third generation Peugeot 408. We published pictures of camouflaged cars, although more informative shots have already appeared, including an image of the interior (they are below). The sedan will retain the traditional three-volume silhouette and technical affinity with the European model. Peugeot 308 – now a new generation, which appeared a year ago. Three and four-cylinder turbo engines are expected under the hood.
Future Peugeot 408 sedan for China
But another car called Peugeot 408 is on the way, and it will also turn out to be a relative of the “three hundred and eighth” family, but will be sold in Europe. And this is not a sedan, but a raised cross-liftback, conceptually close to the current European model. Citroen C4. Peugeot Company announced the appearance of such a five-door car last fall, but then it was believed that the car with the factory code P54 would be called Peugeot 4008. As a result, it was decided to abandon one zero. According to preliminary information, the Peugeot 408 cross-liftback with a length of regarding 4.7 m will have petrol and hybrid versions. The premiere will take place at the end of June.
