Two dead and nine injured left multiple crash in Táchira

A van without brakes hit several vehicles, which generated a domino effect.

Two people died and nine were injured, one of them seriously, was the balance that resulted in a multiple vehicle collision recorded in the El Llanito sector, in the vicinity of the “Curva de los Monos”, Capacho Nuevo-Independencia municipality in the state Tachira.

According to information released by Táchira Civil Protection, the incident originated when a white 750 truck, which was heading in the direction of San Antonio-San Cristóbal, with a heavy load, apparently ran out of brakes, taking with it a Bera Socialista motorcycle, black, whose driver died instantly.

Subsequently, the truck collided with a Daewoo vehicle, Cielo model, white, taxi type, which in turn, as in a domino effect, collided with an ambulance unit of the Capacho CDI that was transporting a patient to the Central Hospital of San Cristóbal, reported the newspaper La Nación on its website.

The Daewoo was driven by a 30-year-old man, who was transporting a 28-year-old girl and six minors: an infant and others aged 2, 5, 8, 10 and 12, respectively.

All of them were diagnosed with whiplash syndrome.

It is worth mentioning that in the same ambulance that had been hit, the woman in the taxi and the minors were taken to a health center for evaluation.

Meanwhile, truck 750’s rough ride came to an end when it violently collided with a utility pole. His driver, a 55-year-old man, died instantly, while his 27-year-old companion was seriously injured, between the twisted iron.

The truck driver who died was identified as Douglas José Peña Nelo. He lived in Barquisimeto, Lara state.

He managed to be extracted from the vehicle by people from the community and later evaluated by Táchira Civil Protection personnel. He was then transferred in the Alfa-28 ambulance unit to the entity’s first care center.

It also transpired that five people who were in a house, towards which the load of the truck fell, were treated for showing signs of fainting, due to emotional trauma.
