A kidnapped teenager who managed to escape from where she was held has led Alabama police to discover two decomposed bodies and arrest a man who faces charges of murder and kidnapping.
On Monday, police received a call from a motorist who reported that a 12-year-old girl was walking alone on the side of a road in Dadeville.
She told authorities that she was tied to a bed for regarding a week. She nevertheless managed to break her bonds by biting them, thereby breaking her braces.
The teenager claims she was forced to drink alcohol in order to remain impaired. She was also hit on the head.
After speaking with the girl, the police arrested Jose Paulino Pascual-Reyes, 37, the alleged kidnapper of the teenager.
While searching the suspect’s home, law enforcement discovered two decomposed bodies. Analyzes are carried out on the remains in an attempt to identify them and determine the cause and time of their death.
Other people lived in the suspect’s residence, but the police did not say whether they were considered accomplices of Mr. Pascual-Reyes. The latter also faces three counts of murder and two of contempt of a corpse.
“It’s horrifying to have such a crime scene, on top of thinking that a 12-year-old girl had to go through this awful situation,” said Tallapoosa County Sheriff Jimmy Abbett.
Although kidnapped for several days, the young girl was not the subject of any notice of disappearance.
