Two brothers were arrested in Monagas state for allegedly being involved in the crime of human trafficking in Maturín.
According to the information revealed by the director of the Scientific, Penal and Criminal Investigations Office (Cicpc), Douglas Rico, they recruited young women through social networks and offered them “attractive jobs” in Trinidad and Tobago.
After starting the inquiries, JJ Torres Rojas, 35 years old, and his sister GB Torres Rojas, 40 years old, were arrested. Apparently, once the victims were captured, they were taken to Trinidad and Tobago, “in order to force them to do sex work.”
The documents were withheld when they left the country and then they took the money for their services, since they were to “cover their travel expenses.”
The capture took place in Plaza Hugo Chávez in Maturín, when they were going to take a minor under 17 years of age and another young woman of 22.
They also recovered two vehicles, where the 22-year-old girl was in one of them.
The detainees are also involved in the disappearance of another 17-year-old girl and it was determined that she is in Trinidad and Tobago, in the custody of TE Torres Marcano (24), who has records for robbery and NV Rodríguez Chacón.
After the recovery of two Toyota Corollas, plate MAB09J and AA241GR, a cell phone was also located; leaving the case at the disposal of the Public Ministry of Monagas state.
