According to police reports, investigations by the “Fake Police Investigation Group” indicate that the two suspects have already collected valuables from victims in several “bail trick” crimes. During the arrest last Friday along the Nord/Weinviertel Autobahn (A5), various headgear, glasses and FFP2 masks were confiscated, which were used to conceal the identity. Hairstyles and facial hair may also have been changed, the executive noted in response to the photographs published on the orders of the Economic and Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (WKStA).

This is the “bail trick”

In the “bail trick”, victims are called and it is pretended that, for example, a close relative has caused a serious traffic accident. In order to prevent an arrest, a bail in the form of cash or valuables is demanded and collected by a fake police officer.
