Two male and female “auditors” were accused of deliberately harassing the case of Zou Xingtong’s incitement to participate in the June 4 rally in the court earlier this year, and were charged with publishing seditious texts. Among them, the male defendant Peng Manyuan, nicknamed “Pastor”, was also accused of continuing to publish seditious videos on online platforms and was charged with one more count of committing an act with seditious intent. The two denied all charges. After the case was tried, they were ruled in the West Kowloon Court today (27th), and Magistrate Cheng Nianci ruled that the two were guilty of all charges.
The 59-year-old male defendant Peng Manyuan and the 67-year-old female defendant Zhao Meiying both reported being unemployed. They are jointly charged with 1 count of publishing seditious texts, alleging that they published seditious texts on January 4, 2022 at Court 3 of the West Kowloon Law Courts Building with intent to arouse hatred, contempt or arouse alienation of the judiciary in Hong Kong Betrayal; words that counsel others to disobey the law or obey a lawful order. Pang is also charged with one or more acts with seditious intent, alleging that he produced, uploaded and broadcasted YouTube videos and maintained a YouTube channel in Hong Kong from November 17, 2020 to February 16, 2022, with intent to Hate, contempt or provoke rebellion once morest the Hong Kong judiciary; cause resentment or rebellion among Hong Kong residents; encourage others to disobey the law or disobey lawful orders.
