Meritorious Artist Chi Trung and his father – People’s Artist Quy Duong
People’s Artist Pham Quy Duong was born in 1937 in Hai Duong. His parents chose the name Quy Duong to name their child with the meaning of “Noble son” born in the land of “Hai Duong”, commemorating the place where his father worked at that time.
Since he was a student at Chu Van An School, Quy Duong regularly participated in the school’s cultural activities. At the age of 17, Quy Duong and his friends founded the Green Youth Orchestra to sing to serve the people. He is the most successful singer of songs such as: “Love Song”, “The Party has given us bright eyes and bright hearts”, “Let’s march on the long road with you”, “Vietnamese Birds”, “Truong Chi”, ” Thien Thai”… During the days when America bombed Hanoi, People’s Artist Quy Duong was a regular person on duty at the Voice of Vietnam (he was the first singer on Radio TNVN), even right at the artillery battlefield. In the years 1979 – 1983, Quy Duong was sent to study vocal music in Bulgaria. After that, he was the first vocal lecturer at the Hanoi Conservatory of Music and the first opera singer in Vietnam. He is also the teacher of many generations of artists, many of whom have made names such as Trung Duc, Thuy My, Bich Viet… In 1993, he was awarded the title People’s Artist by a series of people. People’s Artist Quy Duong has 4 children, of whom Meritorious Artist Chi Trung pursues an acting career, the rest are lecturers and pianists. Talking regarding his father, Chi Trung once affirmed: “For me, my father is a great man.” He shared that not only was he successful in his birth, he also gave him a human personality and a position in life.
Due to his family’s artistic tradition, Chi Trung was also forced to learn violin when he was young. However, following 4 years, learning the violin was not successful. Chi Trung decided to audition for the Youth Theater and then stick to the spotlight.
Chi Trung has had success in drama with typical roles in major plays such as Romeo in Romeo and JulietDon-suc in 9th OathTa Quay in Game of life. At Tao Quan, he is also loved for his humorous and interesting role as Traffic Kitchen God.
After many years as Director of the Youth Theater, Chi Trung has now retired. He enjoys life with his girlfriend, who is 17 years younger than him, and often travels and explores places at home and abroad.
People’s Artist Tu Long and his father – Meritorious Artist Vu Tu Lam
People’s Artist Tu Long’s father is Mr. Vu Tu Lam, a famous mandarin singer from Kinh Bac, at the same time as artists such as: Le Ngai, Minh Phuc (Tu Long’s mother), Thuy Cai, Xuan Mui, Hai Trang … He used to hold the position of Head of Bac Ninh Quan Ho Delegation in the early days of its establishment.
In addition to mandarins, Meritorious Artist Vu Tu Lam also participated in cinema with him as Chi in the movie “See You Again” (1974) directed by Tran Vu. During his time as an actor in the Quan Ho troupe, Meritorious Artist Vu Tu Lam and his wife, artist Minh Phuc, traveled throughout the regions of the former Hebei province to sing to serve the people and soldiers.
As the child of two mandarin artists, Tu Long did not pursue art from an early age. He studied at Bac Ninh Construction Intermediate School, majoring in Civil Carpentry and then worked as a carpenter. When he had saved some money, he took the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema and fell in love with acting.
In 1998, he graduated from the Cheo Department, Hanoi University of Theater and Cinema. After 1999, Tu Long joined the Cheo Troupe of the General Logistics Department.
In 2000, the program “Weekend Meet” broadcast on VTV3. This is considered a great fate that helps Tu Long become famous with the public. Tu Long also participated in acting and took on the role of “Uncle Pho” in the program “Weekend Relaxation” and then was one of the fixed department heads in “Thank God you’re here!”.
For his contributions to the art of Cheo as well as comedy, Tu Long was awarded the title of Meritorious Artist by the State in 2012. In 2015, he was awarded the title of People’s Artist.
