Two arrested for murder of young university students in Zacatecas

The State Attorney General’s Office from Zacatecas reported this Thursday that there are two people arrested for the murder of four young people and the disappearance of a fifth person last weekend.

In a video shared on social networks, the prosecutor Francisco Jose Murillo Ruiseco He explained that so far 50 indications related to the case have been processed.

In the early hours of Saturday, February 12, the deprivation of liberty of the young people, originally from the municipality of Francisco R. Murguía and students of the TECNOLOGICAL University of the Zacatecas state.

The young people were leaving a nightclub when they were approached and taken aboard the vehicle of one of the victims.

The Specialized Prosecutor for the Attention of Forced Disappearance of Persons and Disappearance the corresponding investigation folder was initiated and with it inter-institutional cooperation was activated to carry out the first steps to search for and locate the young people; in the case of women, the Alba Protocol.

During the course of Sunday, the vehicle in which the young people were traveling was found on state highway number 181 in the municipality of Genaro Codina. On board the authorities found four bodies. The Public Security authorities reported that the remains were found in bags accompanied by messages alluding to a criminal group.

The Prosecutor’s Office reported that the four bodies have already been identified and handed over to their families. The victims were identified as Irving Castor, Natalio Torres, Luis Ángel Manzanares and Alexia Monserrat Abrego.

The fifth victim, identified as Valeria Landeros, remains missing and her search file continues to be disclosed on social networks.
