Twitter’s statement continues to narrow the circle of users who tweet wrongly and controversially

Social networking and microblogging website Twitter has decided to clamp down on users who tweet false or controversial information about the coronavirus.

Twitter has announced a day ago that the tweets of users who post false information or controversial tweets regarding Kovid-19 (Corona) will be labeled and such users will be warned by sending a message.

According to the statement issued by the company, the aim of this initiative is to prevent false and baseless information on the social media platform, in the future, its scope will be expanded to include other topics besides Corona.

Different color labels will be given by Twitter with a link explaining the reason below so that other users don’t get confused or misunderstood.

The company said in its latest blog post that tweets that are suspected of causing more harm will be labeled, such tweets will not be deleted, so that users are aware of those spreading misinformation. They should be careful with such accounts.

The company added that a warning will be added based on the content of tweets stating that the tweet contradicts the guidance of public health experts. Twitter’s new policy will also apply to tweets that have already been posted.

“Our strategy for preventing fake news is different from other companies because we don’t have to wait for third-party labels to flag any tweets more quickly,” said Nick Plucks, the company’s director of public policy.
