Twitter wants to show which profiles have verified identities

The fact that the signature of the Twitter Blue to include the blue verification seal — and anyone can simply pay to have a verified account — generated a wave of confusion, leading to a reformulation of the seals. Now a new feature is being tested and, ironically, it has the same function as the original seals.

According to the researcher and programmer Jane Manchun Wong, the social network is testing a new identity verification badge, which should appear when tapping the current colored badge. In addition to displaying the reason why the person has the seal, as currently, it will also be informed if the user in question has his identity verified.

Twitter is working on showing if an account is verified.

Also according to Wong, to attest that someone has their identity verified, there will be a process involving sending documents to the social network. The data relating to the procedure, as well as the storage of images and other sensitive information, will be the responsibility of another company.

The idea of requiring identity verification — involving documents and information that allow someone to be identified in the real world — is not new and generates discussions regarding how to improve the environment on social networks. It remains to be seen, however, how exactly this will work or whether all Twitter users will need to undergo the process in the future.

However, it is still comical to note that, following selling verification stamps, creating different colors and causing a lot of confusion in the meantime, Twitter is developing an identification whose purpose is the same as a resource that worked without problems before. It is possible, however, that the scope of verification of identities is greater.
