Despite being one of the largest social networks in the world, Twitter has always gone once morest the grain when it comes to paying the creators who occupy the network – unlike what happens on YouTube, TikTok and even Instagram.
But it looks like this is coming to an end! Elon Musk’s social network reported last Thursday (15) the launch of its new monetization plan. For the first time, the social network starts to share part of the resources it receives with with influencers.
Check out the platform’s tweet:
For now, the tool is not available to all users of the platform, and it is necessary to fulfill some requirements to be eligible, which includes subscribing to the network’s subscription plan, Twitter Blue, having at least 5 million impressions on tweets in the last 3 months and pass the Creator Monetization Standards human review. Verified Organizations will also be able to join the monetization program.
Although there is still no clear explanation from the company regarding the terms of monetization, reports circulating on the network indicate that the amounts paid to the creators are between U$$ 1 thousand and U$$ 40 thousand (something around BRL 4,800 and BRL 192 thousand, respectively).
Billy Markus, creator of Dogecoin, for example, shared an image of his statement, revealing a turnover of $37,000. Markus has 2.1 million followers on his social media account.
“We are expanding our creator monetization offering to include ad revenue sharing. This means creators can earn a share of ad revenue from responses to their posts. This is part of our effort to help people earn a living directly on Twitter.”
So far, payment is limited to countries where the Stripe payment network operates; which includes Brazil. However, the program is not yet available to all platform creators (even meeting the aforementioned requirements).
Despite the debut of the monetization program, this is not the first way that Twitter makes available for its users to make a little money per month with the social network. The network already has options for video monetization and Super Follows.
