At the end of last year, the head of TwitterElon Musk, stated that the network would change its rules to allow only people who subscribe to the Twitter Blue might vote in polls related to platform policy changes.
The statement was made following a suggestion from a user, who claimed that only Twitter Blue subscribers “came up” with the changes in the network.
Now, as noted by our collaborator Vinícius Porto, the platform is launching the possibility for only Twitter Blue subscribers to vote in polls. The description doesn’t detail whether the polls are aimed precisely at network policy, suggesting they might serve any purpose.
To this day, it is worth noting, Twitter Blue remains available only in Australia, Canada, the United States and New Zealand.
“Verified Views”
On a related note, several users started to notice this week a new counter called “Verified Views” appearing on their tweets.
In practice, so far, the novelty is nothing more than the regular tweet views counter, released just over a month ago.
As noted by Social Media Todayhowever, the change may indicate the addition of a counter only for verified user interactions as a means of further eliminating spam and bot activity in the application, as already flagged by Musk.
According to the executive’s theory, with more users paying to “verify” their accounts, it will dilute the impact of bots – since everyone will know that anyone who doesn’t have a badge may not be a real person.
We will see what will be the future changes of the network.
