Twitter has launched a new feature to combat fake news (fake news), among other misleading content that is shared on its platform. Called “community notes”, this is a feature that was created in response to AI (artificial intelligence) generated images. Recently, there have been issues with the use of AI-generated images that are used to try to trick users on Twitter.
Twitter launches tool to fight fake content
In an attempt to tell people’s reactions to this type of publication, Twitter announced today the release of “community notes”. The resource will be used to alert regarding the veracity of a certain information shared on the social network, where warnings will now appear just below the tweets.
Twitter will automatically attach notes to tweets with potentially false information. Notes (remarks) added to will be evaluated according to writing impact. To measure impact, we track how often a content rater earns helpful status, which is earned through ratings by others.
Depending on the post, the post reviewer may add information regarding the image. After that, it can be defined whether the report is related to the attached text or image.
The functionality will still be improved, according to Twitter. The company says:
Currently, the intent is to err on the side of accuracy when matching images, which means it probably won’t match every image that seems to match you. We’re going to work on tweaking this to expand coverage, avoiding mismatches.
It was also said that the use of the “community notes” feature will be monitored and that Twitter will be open to comments regarding the functionality.
