As Community Notesresource of Twitter that takes source-supported notes from contributors to add context to publications that show inconsistencies (already available in Brazil), will also help to discover whether images were digitally manipulated or whether they were simply created using artificial intelligence (AI).
In an example posted on the profile Community Notesa publication with an image of a car being set on fire gained a context explaining that it is an AI-generated image, as well as a link to the post in which the media was originally published with an explanation of the prompts used for gerá-la.
Notes targeted at images will receive a sort of label making it clear that it is not regarding the specific tweet.
When writing a note regarding a particular publication, contributors will be asked if they want to refer to the tweet in question or the image, as well as being informed that their note may appear in other publications where the same media appears.
At first, Community Notes for images will only be available to contributors with a Writing Impact of 10 or more, and according to the social network, the feature can still be a little inaccurate when comparing two similar images and concluding that they are the same media .
In the future, Twitter still intends to expand the feature to videos and posts with multiple images – obviously, they need to smooth out all the rough edges in the analysis of images before this evolution takes place.
Good increase, don’t you think?
