The video game distribution platform has added the free OBS Studio software to its catalog.

“OBS has finally arrived on Steam!” The Valve firm welcomed the arrival on its platform of OBS Studio, the free software which is a reference in terms of video recording and live broadcasting. Windows and MacOS users can now download it directly from Steam without going through its official website or Github page. “Downloading from Steam has benefits like support for automatic background updates, more efficient downloads on macOS, usage tracking, and the ability to easily opt into beta versions at the publication”, explains the owner of the video game store.

OBS Studio for Linux is however not yet available on Steam. The team behind the streaming software, however, plans to add Linux versions in the coming months. Better support for the Steam Deck hybrid console is also promise.
