Twitch removes L-shaped teddy bear emoji as offensive

The moderation of the streaming service Twitch blocked several emoticons at once, on which the characters show the letter L at the forehead. This was told by content makers on Twitter.

The removal of one of the popular emojis was reported by Faze Clan’s Kaley kalei Renei – her emoji with a bear cub showing a gesture with the letter L at the forehead was considered offensive by Twitch. In Western culture, a similar gesture is usually used to make fun of a losing opponent. Later, other streamers told about similar cases, in which representatives of the platform also removed emoticons with the L symbol.

This isn’t the first time Twitch has removed chat emojis. For example, in 2021 the streaming service banned the image of a mushroom bathing in a bath – it was considered too sexy.
