Two twin brothers died drowned Friday followingnoon following being pulled from a lake in northwest Miami-Dade. This happened last Friday, April 7, 2023 at Arthur Woodward Park Lake.

“It is a very, very sad event, in which there is a group of children playing in a park and this happens”said Detective Luis Sierra.

According to the preliminary investigation, a group of minors was in a local park, located at 1220 NW 99th Streetand playing near the lake.

The twins lived in nearby Colonial Acres Mobile Home Park, east of the lake, near the Twin Lakes area.

One of the brothers fell into the lake and the other jumped in to help him, but neither knew how to swim, although witnesses said another teenager had pushed him into the lake.

But police at a news conference said the 13-year-old boy fell, also saying it’s unclear if the brush contributed to the deaths of the two boys.

Firefighters said three divers were searching the lake for the victims. The two teens were eventually pulled from the water and given CPR by paramedics before being transferred to a local hospital.

Unfortunately, one died in the hospital and the other was in critical condition for a long time, in the end the 2 twins died in the hospital.

According to US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.in 2022 Florida ranked sixth in the US per capita in unintentional drowning deaths among children ages 0-17.
