During the night of October 4, 2022, the Houston Police Department and the Houston Fire Department responded to a call that twin babies were unconscious at a residence in Linden Creek.

The girls’ father called 911 stating that he had found them in their crib not breathing a few hours following they had been restless most of the night.

Upon arriving at the family’s home, the authorities found that the two minors had died and that both had several fractures and injuries to the front of their heads.

Likewise, the autopsy performed on the twins, which was conducted by Jesús Rico, a pathologist at the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences, showed dehydration, bruises and fractures that indicated previous abuse by their parents.

According to Rico, the first baby died due to fractures and different injuries to her body, while the second minor lost her life following being hit repeatedly with a heavy object.

Furthermore, the medical examiner stated that the injuries on the twins’ bodies were consistent with three separate incidents, so their parents were immediately accused of child abuse.

Fernando Vega and Angelina Belinda Calderon, both 21, were charged with two counts of injury to a child and serious bodily injury to a minor by state District Court 351.
