Shortly following the release of their new killer album At The Heart Of Wintervale the adventurers set out from Twilight Force to the next big trip. They also made a stop at the Munich Backstage. Reinforcement in the person of Seven Spires and Silver Bullet promised the best entertainment right from the flyer.

And all expectations that one might have of the event were fulfilled from the very beginning. Hall lights off, mysterious blue stage lights on and first a bombastic intro filled with choirs and synthesizers chasing through the hall. It actually always works – and that’s the case here, too.

Seamlessly the men stormed off Silver Bulletwhich is also their latest release Shadowfall took the stage with them and took over the hall with their unbelievable stage presence. Here it can already be said that the sound – although the backstage actually sounds like an oversized shipping container – was already sensationally good at the opener! Also very well chosen in terms of musical direction, the band also brought a certain touch of fancyness and happy metal with them. He was able to get in the right mood for the headliner. In addition to the truly great performance, it should also be mentioned that the band spent the rest of the evening at the merch stand, selling their own merch, talking to people, giving autographs and the whole group personally thanked every single buyer. Something like that makes a band approachable and gives massive sympathy points.

Seven Spires as the second volume, it might certainly have chosen more rewarding tasks than the middle slot. Anyone who puts up such an opener simply has to deliver followingwards. For those who were there purely for their dose of diabetic Sugar Metal, the band might have come as a culture shock. But that was neither detrimental to the performance of the band nor to the atmosphere in the hall. With their quite interesting mixture of Prog and Melodeath, paired with a powerful and confident vocal performance – both growled and clean – the Americans also carried the audience away. Musically also on a very high level, which inevitably means that the stage performance has fallen a bit compared to the previous band. But if you play like that, you can’t do somersaults on the side.

Last but not Least, der Headliner Twilight Force, that everyone has been waiting for. And it was definitely a more than worthy headliner. Non-stop goofs, interactive elements with the audience. An inflatable green dragon flying during Flight Of The Sapphire Dragon crowdsurfing for almost five minutes or a short interlude regarding the lost singing voice. And a fake potion that made things worse. A bit of fidgeting along the way results in a fantastic concert with a lot of fun. A small drop in a solo – although I’m not sure how many noticed it – doesn’t detract from the overall impression at all. In conclusion, it remains to be said that a concert visit is worthwhile for each of the three bands present that evening. You will definitely see me there once more on future tours. Budapest, Hanover, Berlin, Prague and Hamburg are still on the tour schedule: your chance!
