According to the legal community on the 19th, the 13th Civil Division of the Seoul Eastern District Court (Director Choi Yong-ho) ruled that A, Nayeon’s mother’s former lover, lost in the lawsuit against Nayeon and Nayeon’s mother for loan money.
The court acknowledged that Mr. A had transferred over 500 million won to Nayeon over 12 years, but judged that there was insufficient evidence to regard this as a loan.
According to the ruling, Mr. A sent 535,908,275 won to Nayeon over a 12-year period from August 2004 to June 2016.
Additionally, Nayeon and Nayeon’s mother paid 115,612,093 won with a credit card in Mr. A’s name over a six-year period from March 2009 to February 2015.
Nayeon debuted as a member of Twice in October 2015 and rose to stardom with a series of hit songs.
In January of last year, Mr. A filed a lawsuit demanding “repayment of 600 million won,” claiming, “I lent him necessary funds, including living expenses, at the request of Nayeon’s mother.” She also said, “I promised to repay Nayeon, who was her trainee, the money when she debuted as a singer, but Nayeon’s side broke her promise.”
The court ruled, “Considering the number, period, amount, and circumstances of the financial transactions, it is difficult to believe that Mr. A and Nayeon agreed to return the money.”
He continued, “Considering that Mr. A and Nayeon’s mother were in a romantic relationship at the time, we cannot conclude that this was a loan,” and “Considering that the items are monthly rent, communication fees, loans, and tuition, it can be seen that it was paid for living expenses. “It was ruled.
The court ruling was confirmed as Mr. A did not appeal separately after losing.
Meanwhile, Nayeon’s agency, JYP Entertainment, said in relation to this, “The ruling has already been finalized and concluded, so we have nothing to say as it has nothing to do with the artist’s entertainment activities.” They also added, “Afterwards, we will refrain from defaming or insulting the artist with speculative posts.” “We will take firm legal action against the matter,” he announced.
