Twenty vehicles have already caught fire: Ford recalls 634,000 cars worldwide

Some of them had already been recalled in March. Explanations.

A blow for Ford.

Indeed, many of the brand’s vehicles can catch fire. In reality, the probability of such an incident occurring is low, but it is very real. Twenty fires have also already been registered for the same problem: basically the fuel injector on some models can crack. Thus, the fuel or the fuel vapors can be projected on hot elements and thus start fires under the hood.

A first reminder in March

In practice, these are the models Ford Bronco Sport (2021-2023, which will also be marketed in France in 2024) as well as the Ford Escape (2022-2023, American cousin of the Ford Kuga) equipped with a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged engine, which are affected by this massive recall: a whopping 634,000 SUVs worldwide, the majority of which in the States United States (more than 500,000), reports CNN.

Ford is committed to repairing vehicles free of charge, including an electronic update that will now notify the driver in the event of a problem.

A blow, however, for the American brand. Knowing that some of these vehicles have already been the subject of a first recall in March. At the time, it was for an oil problem. But already, the threat of a fire hovered over the vehicle.
