The new TweetDeck may not come to the phone at this time.
The old version of TweetDeck is back.
Last week, Twitter launched a new iteration of TweetDeck and it’s already doubled. On Monday, July 3, the official Twitter support account announced, “We’ve just launched a new and improved version of TweetDeck,” with the caveat that in 30 days only Twitter Blue followers will have access to the tool. However, as reported by The Verge, the old TweetDeck is back with no announcement of its return from Elon Musk, Twitter CEO Linda Yaccarino, or any other official Twitter account.
TweetDeck 2.0 added several features, including video anchoring and a Tweet compose feature, but it did not retain key features such as the Activity tab and TweetDeck Teams that allow users to share accounts without share passwords, which makes it unpopular among users.
TweetDeck was launched as a free, independent application in 2008 before being acquired by Twitter in 2011. Aimed at power users and Twitter professionals, TweetDeck allows users to view tweets in multiple customizable columns. Considering the app has been free for 15 years, no one is thrilled that it will become a paid feature.
It’s unclear how long the older version of TweetDeck will be available, so use it while you can.
