This year is TVB’s 55th anniversary celebration, and last Saturday’s “Thousands of Stars Celebrate Taiwan Celebration” attracted many old people to support the show. The cast of one of Taiwan’s classic situational dramas “Hong Kong 81” has been away from the screen for many years. Leung Po-ching, who plays “Sister Shun”, returned from Canada to Hong Kong on a family occasion and attended the celebration. And Yan Guoliang, who played the role of the dealer Chen Ji in the same play, also appeared following leaving the nest for more than ten years. That night, Yan Guoliang talked regarding the degree of intrusion into the house of Chen Ji back then, so many people didn’t know his surname Yan! Quite a few viewers heard that Yan Guoliang’s voice had changed. After the show, he explained in an interview that he suffered from squamous cell carcinoma of the vocal cords, which made him unable to make a low pitch, and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.
Yan Guoliang joined TVB in 1981. Before that, he worked as an announcer and auxiliary policeman for Hong Kong and Taiwan. Yan Guoliang turned into an actor because when he was eating with Pan Zhiwen, a classmate in the broadcasting class, Pan, who was already a popular young student, was fighting for money, and he said “it is much easier for me to make money than you”! So Yan Guoliang started as a special contract, and then signed a contract because of the appreciation of the TVB behind-the-scenes personnel, and joined “Hong Kong 81”. “Scent” ended following 6 years of filming. Yan Guoliang transferred to join “Happy Tonight” and performed the long drama “Season”. In the play, he played the role of big dee (Tang Jiawei). classic.
Later, Yan Guoliang acted in many dramas, including “True Love”, “As You Like It” and “Moonlight on the Fifth of October”. In 2008, Yan Guoliang was told behind the scenes that he would not renew his contract due to the arrangement of the performance. In addition, due to the improper arrangement of the announcement, Yan Guoliang decided to leave the nest, change his career as a Tai Chi teacher, and live in the north. Yan Guoliang mentioned in the online program hosted by Deng Yingmin that he drank heavily for a while, and later developed “hematuria”. He thought he had cancer, but luckily nothing happened later! After this battle, Yan Guoliang decided to quit drinking and switch to drinking tea.
