Stade Rennais lost just over 12 million euros net last season.

Despite an increase in its turnover (CA) coupled with a drop in expenses, Stade Rennais ended its 2021-2022 season with a deficit of 12.21 million euros net, according to the club’s accounting figures, published by the DNCG. However, this remains lower than the previous financial year 2021, which concluded with losses of 19.76 million euros.

Stade Rennais reduced its deficit over last season

On the income side, turnover therefore increased as of June 30, to almost 83.5 million euros, excluding transactions tied to the transfer window. In detail, TV rights bring in 37.327 M€, sponsorship, 14.66 M€, ticketing 10.931 million, and the rest of the income, 20.579 M€. While audiovisual earnings fell significantly (-43% over one year), because Stade Rennais played in the Champions League the previous season, ticket sales exploded (+ 1042%), thanks to a return to normal in the stadiums, following the Covid.

Fewer charges, more revenue and costs in the transfer window

On expenses, the payroll charged fell slightly, from 74.807 million to 68.112 million euros, in 2022. Neither last season nor the one before, operations on the transfer market did not make it possible to compensate for the losses. On the contrary, the balance between the sale of contracts and the hiring of players is negative, over the two financial years, at more than 11 million in 2021 and 4 million, over the season ended.
