Little by little, more and more applications are adopting iOS 17 interactive widgets and unlocking new interaction options with the iPhone. One of them was the TV Remotedeveloped by Adam Footwhich turns your cell phone into a true remote control that is completely customizable and compatible with practically any television.
Available for iPhones, iPads and Apple Watches, it works with devices from brands such as LG, Samsung e Sony e set-top boxes such as Apple TV and devices of Year. Although it has a premium version, the app is free to download and offers a variety of features without charging a penny.
Its big difference is that, unlike the native Siri Remote control on iOS, for example, all the buttons displayed by the app are customizable. You can add or remove buttons according to your needs and even change their position on the screen, as well as control your television directly from the Lock and Home screens thanks to Live Activities support (Live Activities) and interactive widgets.
Connecting the app to a television is also quite simple: just connect them to the same Wi-Fi network and tap the “Discover Televisions” option within the TV Remote. If you want to perform slightly more complex actions, however, you will need to add the television’s MAC address to the app’s settings — information that can easily be found in the settings of any router.
You can even add widgets to your Home screen with shortcuts for specific devices and configure them with the buttons you use most. There is also the possibility of linking them to different Focus modes, which makes the experience even more customizable.
As said, the TV Remote is completely free to download and requires iOS/iPadOS 16 or higher to work. The premium version with all the features is available for R$10 monthly, R$50 annually or by R$130 in a single purchase.
