In his third game in charge of River, Demichelis arranged a formation quite different from that of the match with Monterrey: a 4-1-3-2 with Zuculini as stopper midfielder, ahead Simón, Barco and Castro Ponce and Beltrán together with Londoño as area references. Except for some climbs by Elías Gómez, at the beginning the domain of the process was Millonarios, hurting behind Zuculini’s back and unfolding on both sides.
Little by little, Millo settled on the court and began to quickly recover the ball. The associations in a few meters between Castro Ponce, Barco and Simón (imprecise) were the key to give the attack some vertigo, adding to a strikingly very discerning Elías Gómez. Millionaires did not stop suffocating and, as his DT said in the previous one, he raised a match of equals.
The setback was too difficult for River: the width of the field was too big for Zuculini in almost all the plays and he received no help from Simón, which is why the Colombians generated numerical superiority.
