Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s Gulf Tour: Joint Defense Agreements, Purchase of Turkish Drones, and Strengthening Qatari-Turkish Diplomatic Relations

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan arrived in the UAE from Doha, as part of his Gulf tour, at the beginning of which he signed joint agreements with Saudi Arabia, including memorandums of understanding in the field of joint defense and the purchase of Turkish drones.

Yesterday, Erdogan held talks with the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, which dealt with a number of files, foremost of which were the bilateral relations and the strategic partnership between the two countries in various fields.

The Emir of Qatar confirmed that he discussed with President Erdogan the various challenges facing the region and the world.

Sheikh Tamim said in a tweet on Twitter, “I was pleased to host my dear brother, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Doha, where we meet within the framework of providing our economic cooperation with more opportunities and promising prospects, in a way that achieves the common interests of our two brotherly peoples.”

The Emir of Qatar and the Turkish President witnessed the signing of the joint statement between Qatar and Turkey on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Qatari-Turkish diplomatic relations.

The two sides also confirmed their commitment to work together to enhance their position on the global economic map, and agreed to intensify the work of their joint technical teams to identify mutually beneficial investment opportunities, especially in the fields of export financing, tourism, clean energy and other areas of common interest.

The Supreme Strategic Committee between the two countries will hold a meeting to discuss important issues and areas of joint cooperation, and the Turkish-Qatari Business Council will hold a meeting to discuss investment opportunities between the two countries.
