Turkish Foreign Ministry: We reject Russia’s annexation of Ukrainian territory, and this decision constitutes a serious violation of the principles of international law

The Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that it rejects Russia’s annexation of four regions in Ukraine, adding that the decision is a “serious violation” of international law.

The Foreign Ministry said that it did not recognize Russia’s annexation of Crimea in 2014, adding that it rejects Russia’s decision to annex the four regions, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporizhia.

“This decision, which constitutes a serious violation of well-established principles of international law, cannot be accepted,” she added.

“We renew our support to end this war, which is escalating in intensity, on the basis of a just peace to be achieved through negotiations,” the statement said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the annexation of those areas on Friday, stressing that Moscow would win its “special military operation” even as he faced a new and serious military setback.
