The flow of Turkish drones to Africa has been increasing every year for the past few years.

In recent years, African countries have begun to acquire MALE-class drones (meaning medium-altitude, long-duration drones).

A decade ago, the existence of MALE drones was on tiptoe, but in 2023 that has completely changed.

There are many Turkish drones in Africa, including the popular Bayraktar TB2, TAI Anka, Bayraktar Akinci and soon TAI Aksungur.

The Bayraktar TB2 designed by Baykar is in dozens of African countries according to sources, making it the most widely used MALE drone on the continent.

It has been able to offer a means of intelligence and attack at a lower cost to countries such as Niger, Mali, Togo, Burkina Faso…

TAI Anka is also present in two countries (Chad and Tunisia) and according to sources, some have been ordered by Algeria. It was designed by the Turkish Aerospace Industry Company.

At least 2 have been delivered to Chad, and at least 5 to Tunisia. Algeria also requested 10, according to the sources.

Bayraktar Akinci appears to be in Libya according to several sources. Bayraktar Akinci is a HALE (High Altitude Long Flight Ability) drone designed by Baykar.

TAI Aksungur will definitely be a newcomer to the African continent. It is a drone using TAI Anka technologies according to the information.

Two countries have already requested it, according to sources including Angola and Algeria.
