Turkish Defense Minister discusses with UAE Chief of Staff bilateral cooperation

Today, Turkish Defense Minister Hulusi Akar discussed with the UAE Chief of Staff Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, in the capital, Ankara, bilateral and regional issues and cooperation in military training.

The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Ministry of Defense, and was attended by the Turkish Chief of Staff, Yasar Guler; During which the two sides exchanged views on bilateral and regional issues, defense industries and cooperation in the field of military training.

The UAE Chief of Staff is visiting Turkey at the invitation of his Turkish counterpart Guler, and earlier today, Guler received his Emirati counterpart Al-Rumaithi, amid a military reception ceremony at the headquarters of the Turkish General Staff in Ankara.

At the end of last May, Akar made an official visit to the UAE at the invitation of his counterpart, Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Bawardi. Akar’s official visit to the UAE was the first of its kind for a Turkish defense minister in 15 years, according to sources in the Turkish Defense Ministry.

During the meeting of Akar and Al Bowardi, it was agreed that the chiefs of staff of the two countries would hold a meeting in order to increase mutual high-level visits.
