An airplane pilot thought he heard cries for help from the baggage hold, made the untimely decision to divert his planned route and made an emergency landing so that the sector could be reviewed.
The unusual sequence occurred on flight PC690 of the Turkish airline Pegasus Airlines that was going from the capital of Turkey, Istanbul, to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The vast majority of passengers had started their trip in the United Kingdom and made a stopover in the Turkish city.

Barely an hour into the flight when the scandal began inside the aircraft. According to a passenger’s story, everything happened while the cabin crew was in the middle of serving the meal.
“They told us that the pilot heard knocks in the luggage compartment and they supposedly thought it was a worker who had been trapped,” the witness said in dialogue with the Daily Star media.
The information reached them when they were thousands of meters high and shortly after they were informed that they were going to make an emergency landing at the Antalya airport, one of the most popular cities in Turkey.
The atmosphere on the plane changed completely and everything became tense. According to the man’s story, another passenger was so worried that he asked to lie down on the flight given the stress that the moment generated in him. “It didn’t help when a flight attendant mentioned that it’s very cold there and there’s not much oxygen,” the young man added.

The plane took around 30 minutes to land and as soon as it touched down, the staff at Antalya airport ran to the aircraft to open the luggage hold and begin unloading each suitcase. The sequence occurred while the passengers were on board the plane.
After several minutes of tension, the cabin crew reported that no person was found in the hold, despite the pilot’s suspicions. “The cabin crew just checked the luggage area and apparently there was nothing,” the man commented.
“There were no humans down there, so I guess no one really knows what noise the pilots heard,” was the witness’ reflection.

After a few minutes, the passengers were informed that the flight would resume the path they had started from Turkey and that in a short time they would take flight to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
