Turkey has agreed to Finland’s admission to NATO as the last member country. The majority of Turkish parliamentarians voted on Thursday evening to include the country in the defense alliance, the state news agency Anadolu reported.
After months of blocking NATO’s northern expansion, the Turkish parliament finally put the ratification of Finland’s NATO accession on the agenda on Thursday.
Turkey was the last NATO member country not yet to ratify Finland’s accession. On Monday, the Hungarian parliament approved the enlargement to include Finland. However, Hungary and Turkey continue to oppose Sweden’s admission.
