At least 16 people and 4 children died when an inflatable boat carrying migrants sank off the northwestern Turkish province of Canakkale (Dardanelli).
The governor of the province, Ilhami Aktas, told Anadolu that four migrants were rescued early this morning and taken to the hospital, while search and rescue operations continue, involving ten coast guard vessels, 2 helicopters, the navy, the Turkish Disaster Management Agency ( AFAD) and the National Medical Rescue Team (UMKE).
According to the protothema, it has not yet been made clear how many people were on board the inflatable, the captain told Anadolu.
Public broadcaster TRT reported that 20 bodies had been recovered.
