Turkey and Syria earthquake: Afra, who was born under the rubble, will be raised in her aunt’s house
The child, Afra, or Aya as she was known at the beginning, was born under the rubble of the earthquake in northwestern Syria, and became a symbol of hope around the world when a video of her rescue spread on the second day of the disaster, February 7.
Thousands sympathized with the “baby Aya” and wanted to give her a new home, but DNA analysis proved her kinship with her aunt Hala, who decided with her husband Khalil to name her “Afra” following her late mother.
