The Russian Defense Ministry said the four pilots ejected from the plane. Three of them were rescued and the search for the fourth pilot is continuing.
“A TU-22M3 aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed while returning from a combat mission to its base in the Stavropol region. The pilots ejected,” the ministry said.
The crash appears to have been caused by a technical glitch. It was said that the plane had no ammunition on board.
