Tunisian fast-trade startup Lamma begins expansion in Africa

Tunisian startup Lamma, a fast-paced commerce app designed for active young Africans, begins its international expansion with a launch in Morocco. The company founded by Yassir El Ismaili El Edrissi, Hamza Guesmi and Koussi Aymen in 2020 will deploy its delivery services in less than 45 minutes of groceries, food, personal care, electronics and fashion items.

“We believe that e-commerce in Africa suffers from the last mile and inefficient payments. Cash on delivery and the inability to deliver on the same day are hurdles that Lamma addresses. (…) We are preparing the expansion to new African countries, starting with Morocco ”, said El Idrissi.

Since turning to fast trading, Lamma has seen monthly growth of over 50 percent in her launch market in Tunis. It now has more than 1,000 storage units (SKUs) and works with more than 150 merchants. In October, it secured an undisclosed investment from Orange Ventures to fuel its international expansion.
