FOUNDED in 1966, Radio Telekomunikasi Cipta Universitas Indonesia (RTC UI) is one of the pioneer campus radios in the country. Facing the digital era, RTC UI also began to switch from broadcasting on the 107.9 FM wave to streaming partially starting in 2011 and fully to online starting this year.
From the studio located on the 7th floor of the UI Student Activity Center Building, Depok, West Java, RTC UI broadcasts a variety of programs. “Kamistis is their flagship program. I forgot exactly how many people listened to it, but many students said that they listened to it or waited for Kamistis,” said Vice General Manager of RTC UI Althaf Grady on Wednesday (11/9).
The programs are based on research, but he said that RTC UI emphasizes the entertainment side more. “Student life is already tough, that’s why RTC is made entertainment only. At UI, there are also serious topics such as student press. For news, we also broadcast it, but we look for a light news niche,” he said. (M-1)
