TUI expects strong demand during autumn holidays

“Many guests want to extend the summer.” Beach holidays start earlier in the year and last longer. Beach holidays on the Mediterranean are booming. After the FTI bankruptcy, the group secured further quotas and created 75,000 additional holiday places for the autumn holidays. In addition, there are 65 additional flights with 12,300 places. FTI, previously the third largest German tour operator after TUI and DER Touristik, filed for bankruptcy at the beginning of June and shortly afterwards canceled all trips that had already been booked.

Türkiye most popular travel destination

The most popular travel destination for TUI holidaymakers during the autumn holidays is currently not Mallorca – but Antalya. “The travel boom for Turkey is continuing,” said Baumert. Summer temperatures and good value for money make the Turkish Riviera particularly attractive for families. The most popular long-haul travel destination in autumn remained the USA, followed by the United Arab Emirates, Thailand, the Maldives and Mauritius. Germany is in the lead for car trips, followed by Austria, Italy, Poland and the Czech Republic.

Customers’ desire to travel continues to give TUI a tailwind: two weeks ago, the group presented its figures for the third quarter. The hotel business with brands such as Riu, TUI Blue and Robinson has recently grown significantly and cruises also remained in demand. A total of 5.8 million guests traveled with TUI by the end of June – 4 percent more than a year ago. All in all, the company exceeded analysts’ sales and profit expectations and even spoke of a record quarter.
