“For most workers, July 23 is a mandatory weekly rest day, so if the worker does not work on that day, he or she will only receive his or her simple remuneration; that is, no additional remuneration will be paid, as occurs on May 1, when it coincides with the mandatory weekly rest day.” said the manager of the CCL legal center, Alvaro Galvez.
However, if the employee must work on July 23, which is a mandatory day of rest, and a substitute day of rest is not agreed upon, he must be paid as follows: remuneration equivalent to one day, for the holiday; and remuneration with a 100% surcharge for work performed.
